Depa Secures Two Hotel Fit-Out Contracts In Dubai

22nd Sep 2014

Dubai, UAE; 22 September 2014: Depa Ltd (“Depa” or the “Company”), one of the world’s leading interior contracting companies, has signed two new interior fit-out contracts in Dubai totalling AED 144 million with the Emerald Palace Kempinski Hotel, Palm Jumeirah, and the Novotel World Trade Centre.

“Depa is pleased to see the return of hospitality sector contracts and is excited to be involved with two leading brands. The fit-out work is already under way for the Novotel Hotel and we will begin shortly on the Kempinski,” said Nadim Akhras, Interim Group CEO, Depa. “The new investment upswing in Dubai’s hospitality sector is broad-based, with activity rising across small- and large-scale projects. The contracting cycle has started to reach the interior fit-out phase and we are also witnessing numerous hotels wanting to refurbish.”

The Emerald Palace Kempinski Hotel is a 100,000 sq. m plot of land on the Palm Jumeirah that comprises 345 luxury rooms of a median size of over 100 sq. m, of which 36 are exquisitely spacious suites, surrounded by gardens and views of a Lagoon. The private spaces, featuring golden and silver themes, are furnished with bespoke, handcrafted pieces courtesy of traditional Italian furniture craftsman Francesco Molon. In addition to the elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites, the hotel development boasts gorgeous event spaces, 18 food and beverage outlets, including award winning restaurants, luxury pool and spa facilities as well as a cinema and 3,000 sq. m of boutique shopping and first-class business and conferencing facilities.

The design concept by Leo International is inspired by 18th century continental Europe; the hotel’s interiors will reflect the majestic era of Louis XV. The fit-out contract includes the engineering, manufacturing, delivery and installation for all guest rooms and public areas, including the business centre, ball rooms, lounge and all day dining spaces. The works will start immediately and the project is expected to be completed by late 2015.

In contrast, the Novotel World Trade Centre Hotel signed a contract with Depa for the refurbishment, fit-out, furniture and equipment of 412 guest rooms, lift areas, lobbies and corridors of the thirteen floor building. The project is due for completion by January 2015.

Nadim Akhras added, “We are executing on our plan to rebuild our backlog with preferred projects and continue to strengthen our position to push on into Q4 2014 and carry the momentum that has seen us sign significant new contracts in our key markets over the last few months.”

Previously, Design Studio Group, Depa’s Asia-based subsidiary announced the signing of their largest contract in Asia, a AED 220 million retrofit contract for serviced apartments. Vedder, the Company’s Europe-based yacht interior contracting specialist, also agreed an AED 84 million contract for the fit-out of a luxury yacht last month.
